Goodbye Preschool

The school year is drawing to a close.  The boys have 2 more days of school left and then "summer" begins.  Spring finally arrived, and the migratory birds and ducks are returning to the Kuskokwim Delta.  My patients have been coming in this week complaining of sore muscles from plucking the feathers from ducks, cranes and geese.  I visited Spencer at school last week.  Here is a shot of him and his friends walking to Friday Morning Showcase at ME school.  I took an hour off because the principal of ME school called me up and asked me to come to Showcase.  It seems Owen was supposed to have won a drawing competition and they were going to present him with an award.  As it turned out, the person who was supposed to present the award never showed up.  A little upsetting, but it's always fun to see the boys at school.
This week, we celebrated Spencer's "graduation" from preschool.  Spencer was pretty good considering the stress of last evening's ceremony.  However, he did "disrobe" about halfway though graduation, later explaining to me that he was hot.  He managed to pull himself together by the time they called his name and eagerly accepted his "diploma."  He let me help him into his gown later so that we could take a few pictures.  After everything was over, he said to one of the first grade teachers, "I am so happy for myself.  I am so proud for myself."  I'm so happy and proud of you too Spence.
